Projective Varieties

Projective space adds points at infinity so parallel lines meet. Bézout’s theorem holds cleanly: two curves of degrees d and e meet in exactly de points (counted with multiplicity).

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Define projective space and projective varieties
Apply homogeneous coordinates
Identify the projective closure of an affine variety
State Bézout’s theorem
