Determinants

The determinant measures how a linear transformation scales volume. Zero determinant means the transformation collapses space into lower dimension.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Compute determinants by cofactor expansion and row operations
Interpret determinant as signed volume scaling
Apply Cramer’s Rule
Prove det(AB) = det(A)·det(B)
