Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors

An eigenvector is a direction the transformation leaves unchanged. Diagonalization writes A = PDP⁻¹, making long-run behavior transparent.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Find eigenvalues via det(A − λI) = 0
Find eigenvectors for each eigenvalue
Diagonalize matrices
Apply to matrix powers and linear recurrences
