Ratios and Rates
Ratios compare two quantities; rates compare two different kinds of quantity (km per hour, cost per kilogram). Proportional reasoning — if 3 kg costs $7.50, then 5 kg costs… — is one of the most powerful tools in everyday mathematics and a major predictor of success in algebra.
