Grade 9 · Algebra & Patterning
Introduction to Polynomials
Polynomials extend algebraic expression work from single terms to multi-term structures. Students learn that 3x² + 2x − 5 is one object — a polynomial — with three terms of different degrees. Adding polynomials combines like terms; multiplying by a monomial distributes. These operations underpin factoring, quadratics, and all of senior algebra.
