Right Triangle Trigonometry

Trigonometry begins with a simple observation: in similar right triangles, the ratios of corresponding sides are always equal. That constant ratio is what we call sine, cosine, and tangent. SOH-CAH-TOA is a mnemonic for three ratios that unlock the geometry of every right triangle — a tool engineers, surveyors, and navigators rely on daily.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Define sine, cosine, and tangent as ratios of sides in a right triangle (SOH-CAH-TOA)
Use trigonometric ratios to find missing sides and angles
Solve right triangle problems in two and three dimensions
Apply trigonometry to real-world problems: angles of elevation and depression
