Sine Law and Cosine Law
Right triangle trigonometry only handles one case. The sine law and cosine law extend trigonometry to any triangle. Sine law (a/sin A = b/sin B) works when you have angle-side-angle or angle-angle-side. Cosine law (a² = b² + c² − 2bc·cos A) generalizes the Pythagorean theorem. The ambiguous case — SSA — where two different triangles fit the given information, is a subtle and important insight.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
✓Apply the sine law to find missing sides and angles in acute and obtuse triangles
✓Apply the cosine law to find missing sides and angles
✓Recognize the ambiguous case (SSA) in the sine law
✓Solve real-world problems involving non-right triangles
